Peter and I are moving our family to Taipei, Taiwan and we’d like to keep friends and family informed about what’s going on with us and how we are enjoying living there. We hope to stay connected with people and hopefully encourage you all to let us know what is going on with you!
Q: Why Taiwan? Ans: Our goals were Mandarin speaking, and as high quality of life and environment as possible. Taiwan came out at the top of the list.
Q: How long will you live in Taiwan? Ans: We plan to live there for 2 years, until August 2010.
Q: What will Sharon do? Ans: Sharon will be taking language classes, the goal being to be able to read/write in Mandarin.
Q: What will Lucy and Leo do? Ans: They will be attending a private school taught in Mandarin. One of the primary goals is deep language and cultural exposure for them.
Q: What will Peter do? Ans: I will continue to work for Microsoft, in fact for the same group (SQL Server) I do now. I’ll be assisting our recently created development center in Shanghai, as well as helping various SQL customers in the region with their usage of the product.
Q: What are you doing with your house? Ans: We are renting it to friends.
Q: What kind of place will you live in? Ans: We will live in a high-rise apartment building.
hi there,
we are here so LO can better her Chinese (and so her daddy and mommy can do the same.)
stumbled upon your website! we are new to Taipei/Taiwan and call Bellevue our second home (ILs live there) and have tons of MS friends! and our LO will be starting yo-yo-ban at Montessori as well! maybe we can get our kids together, and the adults can play our own version of “who do you know/do you know so-and-so”.
sorry this isnt really a comment but didnt know how else to contact you.
hope to hear from you soon when you get a moment.
Sharon, you can get a job as a dancer now. I love the Nobody ‘your’ version video -> guess what Jamie knows how to dance part of this song, learned from her swimming Korean friends over a year ago. They went to a Korean Karaoke and the Korean kids can all do the Wonder Girls dance – especially these muscular Korean boys LOL
